Build 121 is live!

Hey guys,

At long last, build 121 is live!

Changes:

  • Guilds
    • Can create a guild for 1000 Fame at Guild Register
    • Guilds can have up to 50 members
    • Guilds have 4 ranks: Leader, Officer, Member and Initiate
    • Guild Hall is a shared space for players in a guild
    • Guild Chronicle shows current players in the guild
    • Guild Board is a text shared by the Guild
    • Players in a guild can chat with each other via "/g hello"
  • Oryx's Castle: You can not reach Oryx now without fighting through his castle
  • Teleportation disabled in Oryx's Castle, Chamber and Wine Cellar
  • New encounter: Lord of the Lost Lands
  • New low lands monster: Sumo Master
  • Lots of new untiered weapons and specials
  • Trickster ability made more tricky
  • Warrior only boosts speed of self (still boosts dex of allies)
  • Tells now work across all servers
  • Tomb of the Ancients starting/boss room changed
  • Septavius's minions a little stronger, do not give XP
  • Fix to Sandsman King conventions
  • Horrid Reapers always disappear after Grand Sphinx death
  • Name change now costs 1000 Gold
  • Fewer constructs
  • Only 1 Grand Sphinx per realm

    There are a lot of changes here I support. Good work, Dev team! I look forward to joing a Guild, taking on new enemies and encounters, and farming the improved godlands!

    edit: @Mammies - the StatBot's are player run and will be up soon. Whenever a new build is implemented, they go down with the server resets until logged back on. Don't worry. For now, you can just /tell your friends and ask "where you at?"

    Seal of the Holy Warrior only costs 95MP now... when did that happen?
    Also, you forgot to mention:

    • Shield damage increased
    • Sphinxes now only summon 4 Horrid Reapers, but the Reapers are invulnerable and stasis-immune
    • Sphinx loot table altered
    • Sprite World space now acts like walls

    There is already a way to leave, just go on the guild book and press Renounce.
    Also need to add a new title, Guild Master (The one who created it will be only one guild master) who can demote/kick everyone.

    I love the Guild

    I love the Guild, however I had an idea for the guild hall.

    How about have say 5-15 chests in the guild's hall, that way if anyone wants to donate anything to anyone in the guild they can drop it in the chests?

    Any thoughts?

    I don't know what's wrong with the Castle

    I have played it only once, so maybe I can't say much, but it was a pretty good experience so far.

    I went in with an unpotted Mystic that I'm using to farm fame. I managed to get to the statues at the same time as most of the players, and then at Oryx we all got pretty much at the same time. Got Fey and Att.

    The Castle is pretty fun!

    I have killed three Sumo Masters, and I got superior rings from two of them. If this is meant to stay I love it, easy superior defense.

    One question though: Does the guild chat work like the /tell chat? across realms and across servers? Cause that would be sweet.

    Really don't like sprite world with walls. As I stated in another thread, it has ruined the awesome uniqueness of that dungeon (imo).

    Super-charged ents are a moderate challenge to solo. I like how this is pushing us in the direction of co-op play.

    One sphinx/realm is good.

    Haven't joined a guild yet. I guess that'll happen in due time.

    Yep. Guild chat is cross-server, however, guild halls are not. To me, this drastically reduces their utility. You can always just organize in one place using the guild chat, so it's not so bad, but it would have been nice.

    no tele doesn't matter because solo rogues can't make it past the huge hp enemies quickly enough to jump to oryx before everyone else.

    actually getting to oryx reduces the size of the crowd substantially, so everyone at oryx has a better chance at drops. My group went from 60+ to about 12 by the end.

    new content is fun and interesting!

    Horrid reapers stasis immune? Whhyyyyyyyyy? It was a glorious thing being a Mystic at the Sphinx, and extremely co-op.

    I like the idea of guilds; it'll be intersting to see how they play out.

    The warrior nerf will be excellent for abysses, but not for Event Gods.

    Fewer constructs! I don't think anybody will miss them? Why did you keep them, and not remove them completely?

    1 Sphinx per realm! Perfect. This too, was also needed, because there weren't enough of the other Event Gods spawning.

    I'm not sure how the new untiereds will play out, but I look forward to acquiring them.

    You can only be a member of one guild.

    A number of people questioned this in the initial testing threads but didn't get an answer. I think it's limitation of the implementation they choose, which was chosen for simplicity and speed. There's a number of logistical considerations. Which guild would be displayed under your name? How would you /guild chat one guild or another?

    Maybe someday we'll see the ability to join multiple guilds. I hope so.

    Constructs drop att pots now, surprised that hasn't been mentioned..

    It's so funny (I know it's mean but that's my humor) to see a bunch of people breaking the weak walls up close to see them get slowed and shotgunned and then have 15 or less people at Oryx left but for once I can get drops at Oryx without the crazy lag.
    These changes are awesome and almost everyone will enjoy them, now we need a sorcerer buff and maybe those new classes I hear about :3

    The hardest boss in most games. You can't run from it, we're all going to die and suffer from lag anyway. Embrace the misery.

    Some Thoughts

    Limon walls - Noooo! Why change Sprite Worlds?? I don't understand what was wrong with them. It was all slick and flashy and stuff before but having the tiles reveal as you go is ugly, and surprise Sprite Gods hiding round corners is not fun.

    BUT

    Great work on the Sphinx, Trickster, UTs, xserver/tell, Sept minions.

    AND

    I like the principle of Oryx Castle but time will tell if it's a good thing. I think (especially for new players) building a char up that can regularly make it through to Oryx now will give a good sense of achievement and pride.

    Guilds - I can see it being the cause of a lot of begging (pls can I join pls pls) but it does seem a great way for players who regularly play together to easily stay in touch. Might aggravate the us/them that some casual players have against 'pros' though.

    I'LL MISS

    Warrior nospeedboosts - zooming around on overdrive after a random boost was fun, but IMO this is a good thing overall and especially in abysses.

    Oryx's taunts about his four remaining sphinxs - they really made you wand to kick his ass even harder when you finally got to him.

    The new build looks amazing, my only faults are removing sandsman conventions (soooo much fun to run away from, and you gain like 5 levels) i also dont like how the warrior doesnt buff allies speed anymore.

    We had to make horrid reapers stasis-immune because of a bug that was causing the reapers to live forever if you used stasis on them at just the wrong moment. It was non-trivial to fix so we had to do it this way to avoid holding up the release. Hopefully someday we'll have a chance to address this assuming there aren't other bigger fires to fight. Smiling
