I also agree with this. Especially if the map will change after every oryx defeat(that would be 6 maps a day though, so they oryx encounter should be lengthened out if the map changes), it would be much better if there was at least a silhouette type thing of green and blue for land and water(I got that idea from another thread, I'll try to find it. It should definitely be kept for dungeons, though.
Actually I kind of like the fog of wall... with it I can tell clearly where I've been and where I can go next. I don't want to travel through a region I just passed through... because it will be empty.
If I need to find my way I clear nearby monsters and use the world map already opened in another tab.
whether you want it or not I think its more a matter of all those map data packets being on hand on your computer isnt currently feasible. Thats why you catch up to the inky blackness when you lag

I think the game would be better with the fog of war removed entirely for the overworld, but left in for dungeons.
