Build 118 launched

Hi folks,

We have just pushed build 118! Here are the changes:

  • Lots of new & improved monsters, behaviors, projectiles and loot
  • Trading interface
  • Lag fixes
  • Stat pot drops in the mountains are soulbound-only
  • New item tooltips
  • New accounts will no longer have case sensitive email addresses
  • Name changes can be purchased
  • Better healing feedback

This sounds kinda absurd imo

Furthermore I believe the mountain gods loot should be adjusted to percentage damage.. 90% damage should get mroe loot than 20%..

This build will absolutely rock, I'm sure. I'm just sad that my 3/4 priest died, it will take quite a bit to re-train with the reduced pot drops... unless I go the collab way and ask friends to farm together Eye sb drops will be awesome.

New weapons

Did you forget about mentioning them or were they not pushed to production with this update? (Is this containd in point 1?)
The healing feedback is very interesting for a priest.
I think it goes without saying that the trading system is great.
As far as I have tested the lag seems to be less.

Yet one thing that tops all of these things: Bunnies.
Things that still need to be done:
-Bunnies need to be able to drink def pots.
-Bunnies need to be healable by priests.
-People have to stop to kill my bunnies.

Edit: Due to a recent incident where a certain person named "Senix" annoyed me by constantly doing trade requests, I think there should be a way to ignore those trade offers automatically somehow.

I'm liking the new monsters

I'm liking the new monsters and the new tricks the old ones had. Though I must admit those little mobile tornadoes that toss confuse at you non stop are annoying as heck.

soulbound drops

just a question about soulbound stat pot drops in the mountains (sorry if this has been addressed in forums elsewhere, couldn't find it)... how is the person the bag is bound to determined? The person who did the most damage, the person who delivered the killing blow, or some other way?

Trading Bug

When you trade items in your inventory, the slot in your inventory that was traded, has its number removed. Its just blank afterwards.

for each person who does more than 18% of the god's health they get a 1.5% chance of a pot drop.

p.s. @ vlandros yeah i got that too. it's really minor since after you put an item in the slot and remove it the number returns, but still.

Heal/Exp/"Level up"/"Quest Complete" LAG

There should be a turn on/off option in the graphics menu to disable these green texts from appearing overhead while adventuring. It causes massive lag and makes certain aspects of the game unplayable.

*Complaint about potion drop percentages in godland*

The new potion drop percentages are too low. Even with a group that is cooperating (3-5 people each aiming for 18% dmg), potion hunting is very slow and even less fun than it once was. Furthermore, it is very difficult to keep your group small. People constantly teleport in and follow your group making it impossible to maintain damage coordination with a small group.

Quick question about the new trade function.

I've received a few unsolicited offers to trade in the nexus. If you click "accept", does that take you to a trade window of some sort to confirm what you're trading?

Soulbound bags in dungeons

Arent they used to contain good items? At least that´s how it was for me before this build.
My soulbound bags in sprite world and abyss contained 2 wyvern skin armors and another bad item, I heard similar things from other people as well.
Did you change the code with regards to that?

Lost connections

Before this update, I was never booted from a server. Within an hour of playing today, I was booted back to the nexus via disconnection 4 times, the last time right as I was picking up some good loot... I have a strong, stable internet connection, so I don't think it's that. Something in the build?

I just noticed... the Warrior's helms weren't changed? I was hoping for the extra defense (On the helm or the spec) to be implemented.

The trade system is definitely interesting!

Saw a few new weapons out there.
But they were just crystals apparently.

Can't tell you how much I dislike godland Soulbound either, it decreases the need of partying with more than 2 people otherwise, no pot are gonna drop. The rates are already pretty low. It's becoming a mmo grind.

And does this mean event bosses pot drop are Soulbound also?
Looking forward to the later releases.

They are indeed horrible. When there is finally a purple bag dropping it´s usually not your name.
Don´t tell us that there is not enough incentive to go into dungeons. Currently it´s the only way to have a feeling of success by getting a guaranteed pot...

Abyss key bug

So I used one of my Abyss of Demons keys and I found myself stuck in a dark room 2х2 tiles, not being able to do anything. Thank gods I'm alive, but realm gold(or key) return would be nice too :]

So far I've run into and killed : The swarm, Hornet Queen, the sludge monster, Giant Crab, the Giant Lizard and the Horned Drake.

I don´t think it´s the update itself that increased the lag but the 1000000 people that are playing at the same time now after the updated launched.
At least I hope that this is the problem and that it wears off quickly because I had the worst lag in my whole rotmg history in last hours of playing.

P.S.: I´m happy that the idea of item restrictions has been put aside.

Ok, so this build indicates that the devs do the same bullshit thing all MMO devs do, which is say 'hm, players are doing _____, we didn't intend for that to happen, how can we fix this'. Thanks for fucking the RAPEtrains by altering the mob spawns around the roads.

Also, thanks for making pot drops fucking retarded in godland. This game didn't feel like a china-rpg grindfest, but hey, guess you weren't making enough money. I mean seriously, wandering solo around godland, killing dozens of gods, and seeing fuck all, except some level five pulling a million things, letting you kill them, and getting his little soulbound is just fucking annoying.

Pot drop %

Well... This game is now a mindless grind. Especially for solo god-killers. I prefer soloing, (thanks to low levels luring mobs of gods in every direction at me yelling HEAL PLEEEASE!!!) and because of this, my pot drops have been HALVED. IMO, the chance of getting a pot should correlate to the amount of damage done. 18% damage = 1.5% chance of a pot. 100% damage = 3% chance of pot. You shouldn't be forced to work with others... Plus, this would add a pvp aspect to looting that the soulbound bags took away in the first place.

yeah, these are just way too low. i don't even bother going in godlands now, my only source of pot income is from events. i agree with the tiered drop rates, but i'd say go over 3%. 100% damage should give you more like 4.5% imo. def is just such an essential stat that having it be so rare is really tough on those starting out.

This game at high levels

This game at high levels below 25 def, and this game at high levels above 25 def are two different games, one being significantly less frustrating.

Also, I'm having fun with 'Character is dead' error on a nexus port. I feel like a jackass for suggesting this game to friends two days ago.

PS: It's faster to farm dungeon spawns and solo them than it is to get pots from gods. Or I guess you could spend a buck a dungeon, risk losing your character, and have a decent shot. Oh, wait, that's the method that makes the company money, no wonder it's the least shitty option!

Progression

I think ther should not be a reward for doing 100 % but for doing 90 % of the damage. That way you don´t have to be angry about people that hurt the enemy a little and you are not forced to be alone in order to achieve this.
I think 18 %, 54 % and 90 % would be good or if you want a more precise system use the multiples of 18 inbetween as well.

The /ignore username command will also ignore trade requests from annoying users. Laughing out loud

Bandwidth

Im not sure about other people, but since i have to monitor my bandwidth usage i noticed a massive spike in receive rate. Even when im alone its still up around 2.5kb/s and it was usually around 1kb/s. If it isnt fixed, i cant play much because im limited on how much bandwidth i can use a month, and due to the amount of info having to be sent now, i seem to lag a bunch more than usual which is even less playtime.

Clearly a lot of work has gone into this release. I just wanted to say thanks to Alex, Rob and the rest of the guys for listening to the community feedback and for a job well done.

Here's a list of changes that can be linked to the community. I probably missed some, too.
- Eliminate equipment level requirements
- ...while at the same time preserving the midland enemy drop rate increases we asked for.
- Eliminate planned changes to Warrior Helms
- Trading system, both the general idea and the mechanics of how it works
- Status affecting projectiles are now stars instead of normal looking bullets (I bitched about this a couple times in testing so I like to think my feedback had a direct impact. If so, that's awesome!)
- Pot drops given to Sprite Gods and Medusa (even if it's not at as high of a rate as many would like)
- New enemies directly inspired by Pixel Editor submissions
- Sprite God nerf. Anyone else notice there's only 4 bullets now, and that they're slower?

pot drops are crazy low, its taking me an hour per pot. This soulbound stuff aint worth it with the game having become so in tedious as a result. I hated when people snatched, but at least the pots were there and it was exciting, whats going on now is boring and communist (jk about communist).

Aside from the tedious part, its still an amazing game, and the trading addition is fantastic

does pirate cave door no longer drop from pirates?

because i cannot find a pirate cave for my life. i ran half way around the perimeter of a map without getting a single cave to drop.

stop soulbinding lower tier equips, i recently got soulbound equips that i wasnt going to bother to pick up that someone else needed (he did get btw)

pot drop rates (and dungeon opening rates are too low)

Could we have a hotkey for /pause.
I mean.. we have to type it.. and the / key is automatically binded to do "return" "/" for you.
I know you could probably AHK this, but it'll be permanent and you can't use the key for anything else unless you pause/close AHK.

I always find that the soulbound bag is distracting me to reach the public drop bag. I wish that the bag can be moved bit away from the spot where the public bag is dropped. :\

It did not work when I tried to fend off annoying trade requesters with this function. I´d also like to see a /ignore Djinn/construct function, they are spamming my chatlog.

I agree with GATO, these soulbound bags are really a hindrance.
And yes I noticed the sprite god nerf and I like it, now you can dodge their shots as long as they don´t appear in a group firing from all directions (like with these huge half circles they form sometimes with 6 sprite gods).

This game had the rewards

This game had the rewards system pretty much right. Unfuck your loot system and this will be a successful build. Or don't, but I don't know a single person who is like 'herp derp lets organize a group to kill gods', we play the same way and just get pissed when nothing drops. Adding a 3% 'brown bag' pot drop to the 1.5% soul bag drop and upping the % required to provoke a soul bag to 25 or 30 would probably get the best of both worlds.

About sb pots

I would reckon the drop rate is a bit too much on the lower end... I'm unsure if devs want soloing dungeons becoming the preferred way to max your char (unlikely) or rather just plainly reduce their availability in the game.

The thing I can say for sure is this: the main effect of sb drops is not players organizing godland raids, but rather the fact when small groups of adventurers meet up in the high peaks the don't anymore bitch each other and just go their own (different) ways.

And that I assure you is a big leap forward. SB pots, regardless the drop %, wipes away the possibility of some jerk ninjaing your valuable pot. A bit of a higher % would be welcome though. But that's just up to the devs to decide how they want the run to maxing characters and the whole game economy feel.

dont encourage these people to play 'social engineer' any more than they already are. It's fucking dumb. The drop rate was fine, and yes, 'the raid' sees pots at a slightly higher rate, but 'the person in the raid' does not. Also, I just got a soul bag from septavius, wand of the arcane flame? I would rather just have a middle finger, nobody wanted it, so it got left on the ground, shitty soul bags and 1.5% pot drop percentages are insulting.

I love the fact the best loot is now going to be sb.

But thus item's drop % got significantly lower. I get you want to get away with dungeons mostly being a solo thing? Still seem a bit too low, I'll have to test that a bit more.

My problem is not that soulbound drops exist. My problem is that in more cases than not the loot in the soulbound bag sucks terribly and gets in the way of the real loot in the public bag.

For the updated dungeon bosses, Stheno is fine. For Septavius, wipe the soulbound tier 7 weapon. For Limon up the chance of the planewalker, and for Malphas wipe the tier 9 weapon and armor.

Blocked loot bags

There is another thing that is really distracting aside from the soulbound bags on the real bag. It´s the huge portal that appears directly on the looting bag. Running to Oryx I only see a huge LOCKED sign which is really annoying.
